WORLD BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS and INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

Cairo, Egypt

Forty-one (41) country attented the Championships and International Congress.


The Executive Council members who attended the international congress are, from left to right: Jim Manion (North America), Julien Blommaert (Europe), Oscar State (Executive Vice-President), Ben Weider (President), Abd El Hamid El Guindi (Africa), Winston Roberts (General Secretary), Paul Chua (Asia), Victor Copra (Caribbean), Dr. Ernst Jokl (Medical Committee), Dr. Ladislav P.Novak (Medical Committee), Doris Barrilleaux (Women‘s Committee).

A new members Guam, Honduras and Iceland were accepted. Romania was granted observer status.


Ken Passariello of the USA won the lightweight category.


Gerard Buinod of France won the middleweight category.


Jacques Neuville of France won the light-heavyweight category.


Lance Dreher (USA) was proclaimed the new world heavyweight champion. He is flanked by Joe (left) and Ben Weider.

Fikret Hodzic (Yugoslavia) was the winner of the „Ben Weider Trophy for the Most Improved Bodybuilder of the year“. The USA, with two first and two second places, won the team trophy, to add to the Julien Blommaert Trohhy for the best team posing.
