Historic Congress: The IFBB created history by introducing Doping Tests for steroids at the World Championships, in Tokyo. President Ben Weider, C.M., centre, with the officials who were responsible for controlling the testing. At left is Dr. Bob Goldman, USA, Chairman of the IFBB Doping Committee and at right is Prof. Dr. Manfred Donike, Germany, Head of the IOC Doping Committee, who acted as an advisor to the IFBB. As required by the Constitution, an election is held every four years for every position on the Executive Council. Executive Assistant to the President for the Middle East – Malih Alaywan (Lebanon). Judges Committee – Jacques Blommaert (Belgium), Chairman; Rafael Santonja (Spain), Secretary. Medical and Research Committee – Prof. Ernst Jokl (USA), Chairman; Dr. Bob Goldman (USA), Chairman IFBB Doping Committee. Women‘s Committee – Mae Mollica (USA), Chairperson; Carole Graham (Australia), Secretary. Professional Committee – Wayne Demilia (USA), Professional Director; Winston Roberts (Canada), Director, professional Judging. Treasurer – Lucie Fournier, C.A., (Canada). Legal Councel – George Lengvari (Canada). Patrons – Joe Weider , USA; Hon. Syed Wajid Ali, Presiden, Pakistan Olympic Committee and Member, International Olympic Committee. From the Netherlands 3rd place in the heavyweight Koos Hemminga surprised everyone with his improvement and was awarded the „Most Improved“ bodybuilder of these championships.
The Julien Blommaert Trophy to the team presenting the best posing routine as a group went to Canada. Accepting the Award from Julien Blommaert (Belgium), seen at the far left, are Winston Green, Steve Brisbois, Tony Blinn (team Captain and President of the Canadian Federation), and Brian Joseph. President Ben Weider also joined in the victory ceremony.
Giant Ralf Moller of the Germany had the confidence of a winner and won the heavyweight class.
In the light-heavyweight Mike Ashley of the USA won the title.
American Paul Jean Guillaume was a deserved winner in the middleweights.
In the lightweights Herman Hoffend of the Germany came in first.
Canada‘s Steve Brisbois took the title in the bantamweight. |
