The affiliation of Macau, Saipan, Bulgaria, Romania and Namibia were approved.
This year was an election year. All positions remained the same except for the position of Vice-President for Europe and the Chairperson of the Women‘s Committee. Julien Blommaert had resigned as vice-President for Europe and Carole Graham had decided not to run again as Chairperson of the Womens Committee.
Albert Busek (Germany) was elected as the new Vice-President for Europe and Lisser Frost Larsen of Denmark was elected as new Chairperson of the Women‘s Committee.
70 countries officially participated in the world championships of the IFBB.
Team Posing Award was won by the USA. Mohamed-Abdel Aziz from Egypt was voted most improved bodybuilder for 1990.
