WORLD BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS and INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

Katowice, Poland

A total of sixty (60) countries were present.
The affiliation of Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Vanuatu and Western Samoa was approved. Because of tremendous growth – the IFBB now has 139 contries affiliated – the Executive Council nominated, and the Congress proved, three new executive appointments in order to assist the IFBB in its expansion program.
Dr. Romanas Kalinauskas of Vilnius, Lithuania was appointed as Executive-Assistant to the President for the Baltic Republic. Rena Krasnow, Montreal, Canada, was nominated to be the Associate Legal Councel of the IFBB. Warren Langman of Norfolk Island (South Pacific), was appointed as Executive-Assistant to the President for the South Pacific Region.


Ronnie Coleman (USA) won the heavyweight class.


The host country of Poland was very proud of Miroslaw Daszkiewicz, the winner of the light-heavyweight class.


El Sahat Mabrouk (Egypt) was the winner of the middleweight class.


The lightweight class at the Championships was won by Jose Guzman (USA).


For a third year in a row Anwar El Amawy of Egypt, captured first place in the bantamweight class.

Team Posing trophy went to the USA and the Most Improved Bodybuilder was declared Michael Scionti of Australia.
