WORLD BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS and INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

Shanghai, China

A total of sixty-three (63) countries were presnt. The following countries were accepted into iFBB membership: Azerbaijan, Haiti, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Macedonia, Mongolia, Palau, Yemen.

Since this was an election year, President Ben Weider outlined the various nominations received. All positions remain the same except for the following: Eric Weider was nominated to the position of General Secretar; Jim Manion – as assistant of General Secretary; Aquiles de Cesare‘s position as Vice President for South Africa was ratified; Abutouq Abdul Monem of Jordan was nominated as Vice President for the Middle East; Eng. Adel Fahim El-Sayed of Egypt was nominated as Acting Vice President for Africa; Tony Blinn of Canada was nominated as the Chairman of the Technical Committee. Lou Zhou Yu of the People republic of China was nominated and elected as Patron aof the IFBB. Fawzi Khodari of Lebanon was appointed Liaison for the Arab Countries.


President Ben Weider congratulates Lou Zhuo Yu, pioneer of the bodybuilding movement in China, after having present him with the IFBB Gold Medal.


The most prestigous overall and heavyweight champion Jean Pierre Fux of Switzerland.


Bantamweight category winner Sergey Otrokh of Ukraine.


Justin Jospitre of France won the lightweight title and on top of that also Most Improved Bodybuilder Award.


Eduard Derzapf of Germany was the welterweight champion.


El Sahat Mabrouk of Egypt was the winner of the middleweight class.


Ronald Coleman of USA won the light-heavyweight class.

Team Posing competition was won by the USA.
